Principal and Managing Lawyer

Roger brings extensive experience and genuine passion to his practice, focusing on various aspects of workplace issues, including wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, workplace bullying and harassment, human rights issues and privacy issues. As a dual qualified civil litigation lawyer licensed in both Alberta and B.C., Roger specializes in employment and labour law, human rights law and workplace privacy matters. He is fluent, and able to provide legal services, in Chinese Mandarin.

Roger obtained his law degree from the University of Calgary. Before founding TZ Law, Roger gained experience at a boutique employment firm in Calgary, a leading mid-size full-service firm in Calgary, and a largest national plaintiff-side employment litigation firm in Canada. Additionally, he has valuable experience in complex litigation from his time at a reputable global firm.

Roger’s strength lies not only in his legal expertise but also in his ability to build strong client relationships. At the core of his work is the pursuit of justice and meaningful resolutions in workplace disputes. Whether representing employees with empathy and determination or advising employers on compliance and fostering positive workplace environments, Roger’s dedication remains unwavering. He has broad experience in employment-related litigation and extensive experience appearing in courts at all levels in both Alberta and B.C. and have successfully millions of dollars in severance on behalf of his clients.

Roger is a Certified Privacy Professional, having earned his Certified Information Privacy Professional – Canada (CIPP/C) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Roger’s specialized knowledge allows him to offer strategic legal counsel on emerging privacy issues affecting the workplace including compliance with relevant privacy legislation when handling employee data, mitigating risks associated with handling sensitive employee information, employee monitoring, and accessing personal information from public bodies.

Outside of his legal practice, Roger is an avid chess player, finding intellectual stimulation and enjoyment in the game. He also values spending quality time with friends and family.
